Language Arts Objectives

Literature/ Writing

  1. Identify similes as an effective literary tool.
  2. Use symbolism in a reference to a tangible object that represents an abstract idea.
  3. Explain how characterization is used as a literary device in regard to the following characters from TKAM: Aunt Alexandra, Atticus, Scout, Jem, and Calpurnia.

American History

  1. Write a proposal to FDR, explaining the causes of the Great Depression.
  2. Use the internet and library sources to research a variety of Great Depression-related topics.

Vocabulary

  1. Complete lesson review exercises, including: Vocabulary study cards, visual representation, and text exercises.
